The training addressed mostly the following subjects:

  • The Code of Ethics for Labor Responsibility Practices (Ethical Charter) of PMA and the United Fresh Produce Association
  • ILO Convention 98: Right to Organize and Collective Bargaining
  • Annex 23-A Labor Chapter of the USA-Mexico-Canada Trilateral Trade Agreement (T-MEC)
  • The New 2019 Labor Amendment

The main purposes of the course were:

  • Improving conditions of labor and social welfare for farm workers and their families,
  • Having clients and consumers learning about good social responsibility practices of the farming sector of Mexico,
  • Creating the conception that the Mexican farming industry is conceived as a leader and as an example in labor and social welfare of its workers,
  • Making an impact on public policies directed to the benefit of farm workers and their families.

These courses are looking to encourage participants working in farming companies to learn about the standards making up the Responsible Farming Company Certification (CEAR, in Spanish) version 2.0; in order to implement good social responsibility practices. https://www.facebook.com/ahiforesOficial/videos/756129674848429/

From this course, consultants, third-party technicians, and assistants obtained the necessary information on freedom of union and collective bargaining, as well as the most important changes derived from the new 2019 Labor Amendment and its impact on companies in the farming sector.

The main concepts derived from the 2019 Labor Amendment were provided in general and with a focus in the farming sector; as well as the process to update the freedom of union and collective bargaining policy in your farming company.

The purpose of the event was to create awareness among assistants on the changes the 2019 Labor Amendment has: the main changes and long-term vision, basic concepts of freedom of union and other forms of collective binding, domestic and foreign standards, all of these with a focus on the effects it will have for the Mexican farming industry.

Ahifores is an alliance between all members of the horticultural sector, seeking to reinforce the group commitment to work in benefit of promotion and implementation, to a domestic level, of programs which raise social responsibility in companies they are members of.

Currently, Ahifores involves over 80% of the Mexican horticultural sector members; to develop and promote social responsibility in our sector, as well as, defining and establishing standards and programs that improve the social and labor conditions of all of those making up the horticultural industry.
