“Eleven Rivers Program is presented to representatives of the industry at PMA”
On October 24 Eleven Rivers participated in the Working “Group for Food Safety Industry of Fruit and Vegetable between Mexico and the United States”, which was held under the Produce Marketing Association (PMA ) ” Fresh Summit Convention and Expo ” .
This working group is composed of the US and Mexico representatives, involved authorities such as the Food and Drug Administration ( FDA) , the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC ) and the Servicio Nacional de Sanidad, Inocuidad y Calidad Agroalimentaria ( SENASICA ) ; dealer organizations like the Fresh Produce Association of the Americas and Mexico producers organizations such as the Confederación de Asociaciones Agrícolas del Estado de Sinaloa ( CAADES ) , Asociación Mexicana de Horticultura Protegida ( AHMPAC ) , Asociación Agrícola Local de Productores de Uva de Mesa ( AALPUM ) Empacadoras de Mango de Exportación ( EMEX ) , Consejo Estatal Agropecuario de Baja California, among others.
Dr. Hugo Fragoso Sánchez , General Director of Agrifood Safety of SENASICA , talked about food security efforts that are being developed and the coordination that exist between the authorities of Mexico and the United States to face the recent outbreaks of contamination related consumption of vegetables and fresh fruits.
Dr. Ian Williams , epidemiologist chief of the CDC, explained how an outbreak of foodborne illness investigation is, including the use of PulseNet and how CDC interprets data sets , included in his presentation examples of recent outbreaks .
Eleven Rivers meanwhile made a presentation on the theme: Eleven Rivers , a proposal of Sinaloa for a healthy , safe and sustainable offer, presented by Mr. Heriberto Vlaminck Seidel, Chairman of the Board of Eleven Rivers ; the institutional video of our organization. was submitted before the presentation.
At this meeting Eleven Rivers industry presented the progress of the program in Sinaloa, the scope of certification and preventive controls implemented in agricultural enterprises in the areas of safety, quality processes and social and environmental responsibility.
Eleven Rivers participation was satisfactory and acceptance of industry members present in it was very good .
The PMA Fresh Summit took place from 23 to 25 October in Atlanta , Georgia USA. where the appointment of industry leaders , buyers, retailers and business leaders in the industry was given .
