2016 Food Facility Registration Biennial Renewal

According to the new guidance for the FSMA rule, the FDA has initiated a Registration Renewal period; of packing facilities for fresh products and food.

2016 Food Facility Registration Biennial Renewal period begins on October 1st and ends on December 31, 2016. You also have the obligation to designate who will be your sales agent in the USA, who also must confirm to the FDA.

According to the FDA, have the obligation “Domestic or foreign companies that manufacture, process, pack, or store food for human or animal consumption in the United States”. The term “facility” does not include agriculture, restaurants, food.

Please be advised that updating your registration is a different function than renewing your registration. During the renewal period, you will not see the “Update Facility Registration” button listed on the FFRM main menu, until the registration is renewed. If a registration is not renewed by 11:59 PM on December 31st, the registration will expire and be removed from your account.

We recommend not wait until the last day to comply with this obligation, since delaying the renewal of the registry could result in delays, system overruns or revocation of your registry.
