Cárdenas Foundation signs a cooperation agreement with the UAdeO

On December 17, Universidad Autónoma de Occidente (UAdeO) opened its doors to one of its founders. Rector Dr. Sylvia Paz Díaz Camacho hosted Mr. Daniel Cárdenas Izábal, President-for-life of Cárdenas Foundation, to sign various cooperation agreements among both institutions.

There are 3 commitments signed between UAdeO and Cárdenas Foundation: the academic cooperation agreement, social service agreement, and professional academic stay. Among their general purposes is promoting the exchange of activities from the academia, continuing education, academic and cultural extension, as well as trainings aimed at vulnerable groups of population, among others.

During her message, UAdeO Rector Dr. Sylvia Paz Díaz Camacho, recognized the work carried out by Mr. Daniel Cárdenas, along with the other founders; who conducted the relevant arrangements for the birth of the then entitled “Universidad de Occidente” (UdeO). She also said that today, with Cárdenas Foundation, this bond is reinforced, so that students from this University become successful professionals and good citizens with values.

Dr. Díaz Camacho commented on the new university enrollment, as well as about the increase in the educational offer with quality and relevance, in addition to the exponential increase in scholarships for UAdeO students, from which, over 5,800 students are exempt from payment by 100%, due to their excellent grades.

Mr. Daniel Cárdenas Izábal said he was happy to return to this educational ground, and to see the growth the University has had so far, and under the management of Rector Díaz Camacho.

He also stated that this collaboration will be a great contribution to the Foundation, “because today, UAdeO is a quality institution and unquestionably, young Linces may contribute with their knowledge to community development and, at the same time, to continue their professional training from another perspective.”

At the Meeting Room of the Rector’s Office, located at Lince Theater, Dr. Díaz Camacho was accompanied by the Academic Vice Chancellor, Dr. María del Carmen Martínez Valenzuela; the Vice Chancellor for Management and Finances, Dr. Ezequiel Avilés Ochoa; and the Vice Chancellor of Institutional Operations, Dr. Hussein Muñoz Helú. On behalf of Cárdenas Foundation, the Operational Director, M.C. Lilia Carolina López Ceniceros also attended the meeting.

Fundación Cárdenas is a civil association created by Farmer Daniel Cárdenas Izabal, this is an institution that manages, creates bonds, and coordinates community intervention projects, in order to improve the lives of rural people through community work and training.
