Eleven Rivers at COESPLAFEST

On September 2nd, the meeting of the State Security Committee for the Management and Use of Pesticides, Fertilizers and Toxic Substances (COESPLAFEST) in order to follow up the various agreements reached at previous sessions regarding prevention was conducted poison, and the proper handling and use of various substances that can endanger the population.

As a result of the meeting, the Committee reached the following agreements:

  • producing members of the League of Agrarian Communities will be trained, in order to raise awareness regarding the handling of empty containers of chemicals.
  • It will reach an agreement with the University of the West (U of O) with which work will begin on a cooperation agreement and thus execute joint actions towards prevention.

In turn, the issue on the epidemiological picture of pesticide poisoning accidents in the state of Sinaloa, as well as accidents and poisoning touched anhydrous ammonia.

Attendees included representatives of the Farmers Association of Rio Culiacan (AARC) were; State Commission for Protection Against Health Risks of Sinaloa (COEPRISS); Eleven Rivers; the Association of Fertilizer Producers and Distributors of Sinaloa (APRODIFER); the Secretariat of Communications and Transportation (SCT); State Plant Health Committee of the State of Sinaloa (CESAVESIN); Sinaloa Health Service (SSS); the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS); National Council of Educational Development (CONAFE); the Environmental Research Institute of the U of O; the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN); the Department of Social and Human Development (SEDESHU); the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (PROFEPA); the Faculty of Agriculture of the Autonomous University of Sinaloa (UAS); the National Peasant Confederation (CNC) and the Confederation of Agricultural Associations of the State of Sinaloa (CAADES).

They agreed to hold the next meeting on October 14 this year, where they will present progress on the implementation of the above actions.
