Eleven Rivers Growers CEO participates at the Post-Harvest Innovation Trends

On Jan 30- 31, the Post-Harvest Innovations Trends even is taking place. This event is developed by Industrias Rochín in the city of Mazatlán, Sinaloa. This event bring together innovation, technology, and networking; and it is focused on the Post Harvest industry, and is the perfect place to gather professionals from the guild with a long-standing career and enriching expertise. The purpose of the event is to promote the dialogue, creating alliances, and providing a space of developing relations amongst with a passion for the Post Harvest world.

The conference panel was honored of having our CEO, Georgius Gotsis, with the lecture: 21st Century: AI in production and marketing of produce. In his lecture, he talk about the situation in Mexico and Sinaloa in producing fruits and produce; he also discussed the evolution it has had in the last 10 years, as well as the trends, opportunity areas and challenges.

He also mentioned some technologies which have been developed and have not reach Sinaloa yet, but they will be coming. For example: SeedWiz, a company allowing growers to get access to thousands of seed varieties from different companies. Based on various variables such as climate, geodesic point, soil quality, insects, seed genetics, among others; growers will be able to choose seeds more accurately for their region, even for their lots. Also, this tool uses AI (Artificial Intelligence) to make forecasts predictions according to land history and anticipate seed options which better adapt to changes.

On the other hand, he discussed the effectiveness of blockchain when focused on food safety, saying that, thanks to this tool, identifying the traceability path of a vegetable can be reduced from weeks to seconds, and it also allows to see the path it followed from the harvest to the end consumer in detail, thus identifying the potential risks arising in transport, storage, etc.

Finally, he commented about the possibility of creating a model which allows to  make market forecast based on variables such as climate, surface, planting area, exchange rate, among others.
