Eleven Rivers Growers participates in the FPAA Spring Policy Summit

From the 20th to the 21st of March, the annual Spring Policy Summit was held by the Fresh Products Association of the Americas (FPAA) in Tubac, AZ. The two-day event counted with the participation of the most qualified speakers in the industry focused in topics such as Food Safety and Trade especially the NAFTA perspectives.

The event counted with the participation of more than 100 industry members, at the beginning of the event Mario H. Robles Escalante, leader of the team that represented the Mexican commission, shared the attendees the advances of the Produce Industry especially in the matter of Food Safety,  shared the recent publication of the Law of Coordination and Agricultural Safety in Sinaloa, he also comment the results of the negotiations headed by CIDH – CAADES participating in the Mexican commission to the negotiations of NAFTA and the progress of the Eleven Rivers Growers certification program; which to date has 14 certified companies and 20 more in the process of implementation, together these companies represent 55% of the agricultural exports of Sinaloa, in the event the institutional video of Eleven Rivers was also shared.

A discussion on collaboration between U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Mexican Customs officials focus on trade, cargo processing and facilitating trade between the two countries. Invited speakers include Guadalupe Ramirez, acting director of field operations at the Tucson Field Office of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and Jose Martin Garcia, Ministry of Finance at the Embassy of Mexico.

“This kind of meeting brings together stakeholders with regulators in a setting that invites collaboration and constructive input,” Lance Jungmeyer, FPAA president, said in a news release. “Our mission is to educate and monitor about changes that could impact our industry, and to create partnerships that help guide the produce industry towards achieving lasting, long-term positive changes.”
