Introduction

Eleven Rivers presents a new concept on the market, an Scheme with which Mexican agricultural producers can be certificated and that includes the main requirements that consumers, buyers and governmental organisms seek globally.

Eleven Rivers standards seeks to improve the performance of companies in the areas of safety, quality processes, traceability, social and environmental responsibility; all these aspects are checked on a weekly basis to ensure continued compliance with certified companies.

To implement these standards, Eleven Rivers seeks to promote three factors: preference, consistency and reliability.

Eleven Rivers Growers LLC, is a non-profit organization whose goal is to achieve food security, understood as the availability of sufficient, healthy and safe food; thus, Eleven Rivers seeks to gain consumer confidence in the products generated by Mexican horticultural farmers.

This document contains the commitments and general compliance criteria for the sector of fresh vegetables cultivated for human consumption; Specifically, the certification scheme defines the basic criteria that are applicable to fresh vegetables grown in open fields or in protected facilities.

In 2012, Eleven Rivers published the 1.1 version of his standard, which was recognized by SENASICA as an equivalent to the model of Contamination Risk Reduction System.

Also in 2012, Eleven Rivers Scheme was awarded by the Mexican Federal Government with the National Export Award in the category of “chain or innovative alliance of foreign trade”, which is the product of credibility, effort and dedication of each one of the participating farmers program.

In 2015, The Mexican Entity

In 2015, the Mexican Accreditation, A.C. (EMA) (equivalent to American National Standards Institute, ANSI) awarded the Accreditation as a Verification Organism type “A”, to the Association for Standardization and Certification B.C. under the ISO / IEC 17020: 2012. And in 2016, to NSF Mexico as a Product Certification Body under the ISO / IEC 17065: 2012; this, to support the validity of EC11R.

The 2.3 S version of the standard replaces the 2.2.1 version, with this Eleven Rivers seeks to adapt to changes in the field of food safety regulation and social responsibility being established internationally, to adapt to the new market needs and to produce more sustainably.

This new version strengthens all key areas of performance to continue looking to innovate in the export market for fresh vegetables by offering products fully certified by independent bodies and continuously verified, with the best practices of the productive sector to ensure that buyers and consumers have Mexican safe and reliable products.

Eleven Rivers mission is to certify all Sinaloa’s vegetable producers to be competitive and to offer to the market fresh, reliable and sustainable products.

Eleven Rivers vision is to be leader in food safety and sustainability to position farmers in international markets.

Eleven Rivers establishes a commitment with the agri-food sector to contribute to food safety for the benefit of consumers, through a range of certified vegetables, backed by its differentiating values:

  1. Full coverage. In Eleven Rivers Certification Scheme (11RCE) companies certify their modules of agricultural production, packaging and shelter facilities.

  2. Comprehensive Scope. 11RRS is not only focused on food safety, but it also seeks to comply with the best industry practices, including process quality, traceability and corporate responsibility.

  3. Continued Verification. Participating growers agree to be subject to a seasonal certification, and weekly compliance verification, conducted by independent certification and verification organizations.

With this differentiation, it seeks a preference for certified products under the distinctive Eleven Rivers.
