On Saturday, March 11th 2017, in the auditorium of the Farmers’ Association of the Culiacan River, the first work report of Sergio Esquer Peiro was carried out. He emphasized that one of the most important tasks facing the agricultural sector in Sinaloa is to increase competitiveness, aware that this allows the agricultural industry to have a greater capacity to face their own challenges and that the level of competitiveness achieved will be the level of profitability of the activity.
He mentioned that the challenges faced by the activity are even more challenging than they were only a year ago when he assumed the presidency of the organization; In the international context, the agricultural activity faces moments of instability, change and a degree of uncertainty that force growers to work in a more reasoned, organized and intelligent way, since the same countries that previously promoted a commercial opening, are those that now propose an unexpected turn towards to a new protectionism that could break with the international economic order as it has been given.
Mr. Esquer emphasized the importance of promoting the diversification of new products and new markets, to depend less on a single trading partner, he acknowledged that it is not a simple task, however, in joint action involving the government and producers, seek those possibilities, through research, development and innovation.
The president of the farmers association took the opportunity to extend his recognition to Ulises Robles for his management at the head of the Confederation of Agricultural Associations of the State of Sinaloa (CAADES) and the presidents of the rest of the state associations for the work to benefit the Sinaloa field.
To conclude his speech, Lic. Esquer comments that he sees the new environment as a great opportunity to draw the full creative potential and turn these challenges into future strengths. “I want you to be sure that as men and women of the field, that we are characterized by our courage and optimism, despite the complex scenarios we are experiencing – The best crop is yet to come ”
