The RADARSAT Constellation Mission (RCM) is Canada’s new generation of Earth observation satellites, launched on June 12, 2019. The three identical satellites will work together to bring solutions to key challenges for Canadians, including farmers.
The data coming from the satellites are going to provide wall-to-wall coverage of Canada’s terrestrial land mass.
The satellites reportedly have the capacity to collect data from across Canada in two or three days, providing almost real-time pictures of crop growth and soil moisture, explains Dr. Andrew Davidson, manager, earth observation operations for Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada.
