Producers of Sinaloa meet with DICONSA Director

On July 14 of this year, a follow-up meeting to the collaboration issues between CAADES, SEDESOL and DICONSA in view of the efforts was being carried out since last year to establish an agreement for the installation of DICONSA stores in workers shelters facilities of the CAADES grower’s members.

The main purpose sought since 2015 with this agreement is to achieve for migrant farm workers who come to Sinaloa a scheme to ensure the timely supply of food and essential goods at fair prices in shelters where they live, which has recognized processes to institutionalize the support of the Federal Government through agencies in the social area.

With the signing of this agreement last year it was achieved that DICONSA operating rules allowed installing supply stores in agricultural shelters where workers live for about 6 months.

SEDESOL destined resources from the PAJA (for its initials in Spanish) for investment projects 50/50 to infrastructure construction for supply stores in workers shelters.

The results until June 2016 where: 21 fixed tents, 35 mobile shops and 4 shops built with the project 50/50 serving agricultural shelters resulting in a attention to 35.217 migrant farm workers who come to Sinaloa every year.

One of the main topics discussed at this meeting last July 14 was the need to equip stores with electronic point of sale (EPOS): computer equipment, software and internet connection must be provided by DICONSA, another topic was the economic resource granted from SEDESOL to the migrant farm workers when they arrived which can be exclusively traded on DICONSA shops whith EPOS this is the reason why is so important this stores are properly equipment.
